The Arab Office for Youth and Environment (AOYE) actively participated as audience members in the “Coordinating Local & National Actions to Reduce Food Loss & Waste in Mediterranean Cities” webinar. AOYE engagement reflected its ongoing commitment to promoting sustainable development and environmental awareness in the Mediterranean region. By attending this event, AOYE gained valuable insights into policy frameworks, innovative solutions, and best practices implemented by various stakeholders, including government representatives and sustainability experts. The discussions reinforced the importance of integrating local and national efforts to tackle food loss and waste, a pressing issue that directly impacts food security, resource efficiency, and climate resilience.

As a representative of civil society, AOYE  viewed the webinar as an opportunity to strengthen its advocacy for sustainable food systems and circular economy initiatives in the Arab region. The event provided a platform to observe successful case studies, such as France’s national strategy, and assess how similar approaches could be adapted to local contexts. Moreover, the participation gave a chance to explore potential collaborations with regional and international partners working on food sustainability. Moving forward, AOYE aims to utilize the knowledge gained from the webinar to enhance their environmental programs, promote awareness campaigns, and support grassroots initiatives focused on minimizing food waste and improving resource management in Mediterranean cities.
