“No to Single Use Plastic – SUP” Initiative on the Nile Banks in Asyut
In continuation of the “No to Single Use Plastics – SUP” initiative, Arab Office for Youth and Environment is pleased to announce the successful conclusion of the field campaign in Assiut Governorate to clean the Nile River, achieving remarkable progress in promoting environmental cleanliness. In partnership with the Assiut Childhood and Development Association, a committed team of volunteers spearheaded the effort of collecting and sorting substantial amounts of plastic waste and other solid materials from the riverbanks and the waterway itself. The waste was meticulously handled —from collection, sorting, and weighing, to safe disposal— through coordination with the East District Administration, ensuring proper transfer to specialized recycling centers. We extend our deep gratitude to the enthusiastic and dedicated volunteers who played a key role in the success of this initiative, as well as to the Assiut Childhood and Development Association for their invaluable partnership. This campaign represents a significant step toward achieving our goal of preserving a clean, plastic-free environment
